Mission
What is the mission of our project?
The project ‘Nella Cultura – Il Turismo delle Radici’ (In Culture – Tourism of the Roots) was created with the aim of strengthening and reinforcing the deep and often emotional bond between Italy and its communities abroad. It is aimed in particular at Italian-descendants who, scattered all over the world, wish to rediscover their origins, reconstruct their family history and live an authentic experience in the places from which their ancestors left.
By means of genealogical research, supported by documentary sources from Italian civil status and parish archives, the project makes it possible to outline a real, personalised family tree. This reconstruction work represents the first step towards a ‘journey of the roots’, a cultural and emotional itinerary that allows participants to walk in the footsteps of their ancestors, visiting places of family origin: villages, churches, houses, landscapes that are part of personal and collective historical memory.
But the project does not stop at the past: it is also a bridge towards the present and the future, offering opportunities for meeting, cultural exchange and knowledge of local traditions, language, art, food and wine, and Italian heritage.
‘Nella Cultura – Il Turismo delle Radici’ is an invitation to rediscover oneself through one’s Italian roots, rediscovering a fundamental part of one’s identity and contributing, at the same time, to enhancing and protecting the historical and cultural heritage of the territories involved.
