Mission
What is the mission of our project?
The project “Within Culture – Roots Tourism” was created with the goal of strengthening and renewing the deep, often emotional bond between Italy and its communities abroad. It is especially dedicated to Italian descendants around the world who wish to rediscover their origins, reconstruct their family history, and experience an authentic journey through the places their ancestors once left behind.
Through a genealogical research journey, supported by official documents from civil and parish archives in Italy, the project enables the creation of a personalized family tree. This process of reconstruction becomes the first step toward a true “roots journey”: a cultural and emotional itinerary that allows participants to walk in the footsteps of their ancestors—visiting their family’s places of origin, including villages, churches, homes, and landscapes that are part of both personal and collective memory.
But the project doesn’t stop at the past. It also serves as a bridge to the present and future by offering opportunities for connection, cultural exchange, and the discovery of local traditions, language, art, cuisine, and the rich Italian heritage.
“Within Culture – Roots Tourism” is an invitation to rediscover yourself through your Italian roots, reconnecting with a fundamental part of your identity while also helping to protect and promote the historical and cultural heritage of the local communities involved.
In line with its mission to enhance Italian territories through authentic, historically rooted experiences, the project is currently focused on a well-defined geographical area: the village of Lenola, in the province of Latina, and the surrounding region. This area preserves a rich heritage of traditions—an ideal starting point for an authentic roots journey into the heart of southern Lazio.
